At STARGEAR, we’re dedicated to providing top-quality accessories for your Starlink Mini experience. Recently, we learned about a compatibility issue affecting our USB-C to DC cable. Some power banks, particularly those with sensitive low voltage protection, were not working seamlessly with our previous product. This realization prompted us to take action.
We released the USB-C solution for the Starlink Mini earlier than SpaceX officially did, but we also overlooked the chip issues that led to incompatibility with some power banks. After SpaceX released the genuine Starlink USB-C cable, we found a bigger issue about OEM Type-C cable, it requires only 20V at 5A from power source, which means if your power source does not support 20V at 5A output (100W), cable stop working immediately.
Understanding the Issue - Starlink Mini requires a maximum of 60W with only 30-40W for normal operation, however many power banks on the market only deliver 20V at 3.25A or lower which leads to incompatibility. If your power bank doesn’t meet these requirements, it won’t be able to power your Starlink Mini effectively, leaving you without the connectivity you need while on the go.
Our Solution - Redesign and remanufacturing for Better Performance. We’re excited to announce that we are remanufacturing our USB-C to DC cables using our customized new STARGEAR chips manufactured from wafers. These advanced chips are designed to support both 28V PPS (Programmable Power Supply) and 20V PD (Power Delivery) protocols.
This upgrade will ensure broader compatibility with a wider range of PD power banks, allowing you to use your Starlink Mini with confidence. You can use any 60W PD power bank (20V at 3A output capability) with this new cable equipped with our STARGEAR chip.
